Enjoying and achieving
The playrooms are designed to offer a stimulating and learning place where your child will pick up and learn through fun and play.
We have a long-term plan which is reviewed each year and to compliment this a medium and a weekly plan based on the national curriculum, is planned.
Children are observed regularly and the observations of your child help us to plan what to do next to help your child learn and develop. This also helps us to ensure we are keeping the specific needs of your child at the heart of our planning. Parent’s involvement is vital to the learning of the children and each week parents will be invited to be involved, details can be found on the parent’s notice board.
A typical day includes the following activities which staff provide to cater for all children depending on their age and stage of development; painting, sand and water; clay, dough or plasticine; drawing and writing; stories and poems; imaginative play in the home corner, carpet and outdoor play; visiting the library, attending assemblies, music; puzzles and games; designing and making; using the computer; imaginative play using small figures, cars, etc.
Making a positive contribution
Childhood can be described as spontaneity, joy, wonder, enthusiasm, curiosity, challenge, fun and, most of all, success. We work to harness these aspects of children by providing the freedom to explore along with clear boundaries, which help children to make a positive contribution. Being part of a group of other children is important to children and through this they will be gaining in their social skills, i.e. learning to share by taking turns being heard through circle time and by actually influencing the way the nursery is running, this develops the child sense of self and confidence, and independence at their own pace, preparing them for school.
During their time with us, children will have the opportunities to discover through their play the worlds of
language and literature, mathematics, science and technology, art and creativity, physical education, history, geography, music and drama.
Our behaviour management policy, focuses on positive praise of acceptable behaviour believing that children respond to affirmation and positive praise.
